People who die at the hospital or at health centres around the country get first preference at the mortuaries compared to people who die at home or elsewhere.
Health Ministry Media Liaison Officer Iliesa Tora said this is the standing policy at all the hospitals and health centres that have a morgue around the country.
The matter was raised after two families waited for more than four hours for their loved one's body to be taken to the CWM morgue even though there was space in the morgue.
Tora said that such matters can be investigated after a complaint is lodged however people also have to understand that process has to be followed whereby the doctor will have to check the body first before giving the green light for the body to be taken to the mortuary.
Meanwhile, Tora is also calling on people not to leave their loved one's body in the morgue for too long as it creates space problems.
