The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side has finished 4th at the HSBC Singapore 7s tournament after losing to France 29-7 in the 3rd Place playoff tonight.

Fiji had no answers to France’s dominant attacks as they were kept in their half for most parts of the game.

France scored a total of 5 tries and 2 conversions for the win.

Fiji put on a great fight in the first half trailing France 12-7 at halftime.

France scored their first converted try in the first minute through Ian Jason before Fiji’s Adi Vani Buleki replied in the 2nd minute with a try in the 2nd minute to lock the score at 7-all.

France scored an unconverted try to their captain Seraphine Kemba at the stroke of halftime to take the lead at the break.

The French came out strongly in the second spell and capitalised on Fiji’s forced errors to score 3 more tries to Kemba, Carla Meisan and Lou Moel with one conversion by Shannon Izar.

This is the best tournament finish that the Fijiana 7s has had so far in the 2023-2024 HSBC SVNS Series with one more leg to go.

NZ will play Australia in the Women’s Cup Final at 9.41pm tonight and Ireland will play NZ in the Men’s Cup Final at 10.21pm tonight.

Meanwhile, Argentina has made history by winning the HSBC SVNS World Series for the first time after securing a 5th-place finish in the tournament following a 14-10 win over South Africa tonight.
