Fijian Drua Men fall again in Melbourne after 41-20 loss to the Rebels

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua gave away a 20-8 comfortable lead in the first half to lose 41-20 against the Rebels in their round 7 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific match tonight.

The Drua started the game well taking an early 8-0 lead through a penalty kick at goal from Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula and an unconverted try to Frank Lomani.

The Rebels replied in the 20th minute with a penalty to Carter Gordon to close the gap to 8-3 before Apisalome Vota scored another unconverted try in the corner to extend the Drua’s lead to 13-3.

Fijian-born Rebels flanker Angelo Smith scored an unconverted try to put the Rebels back into the game trailing by 13-8.

Ratu Leone Rotuisolia scored the Drua’s third try with a successful conversion from Ravula to extend their lead to 20-8 before the Rebels replied with a converted try to hooker Jordan Uelese at the stroke of halftime to trail 20-15.

The Rebels regrouped in the second spell and prevented the Drua from crossing their try line.

The Rebels scored another 4 tries and three conversions through winger Glen Vaihu, who scored two tries, flanker Maciu Nabolakasi and Filipo Daugunu to secure the win.

Meanwhile, the Drua still are currently in 7th place on the overall Super Rugby Pacific points table despite the loss and await the results from the remaining matches from tomorrow.

In other matches tonight, the Blues demolished the Force 50-3.

In tomorrow’s matches, the Chiefs face Moana Pasifika at 6.05pm tomorrow while the Brumbies meet the Waratahs at 8.35pm tomorrow. Meanwhile, the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women will play the Brumbies Women at 6.05pm tomorrow in round 4 of the Super Rugby Women’s Competition.
