Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has today revealed that Fiji will withdraw from the Pacific trade agreements PICTA and PACER.
This follows the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum's decision to leave Fiji out of the PACER Plus discussions.
Commodore Bainimarama said the Forum member countries will also be informed about this decision.
Bainimarama said the Secretary General of the Forum Secretariat should also take the blame for the exclusion of Fiji from the PACER Plus discussions.
The Forum leaders only agreed to keep Fiji informed about the trade discussions but they had decided that Fiji should not participate in the negotiations.
The leaders also called for political dialogue in Fiji between parties on the principles of genuine, inclusive dialogue without preconditions or predetermined outcomes.
