Fiji of coups and chaos is no more as the Fiji of stability and equality is what the children of Fiji will inherit - PM
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the Fiji of coups and chaos is no more as the Fiji of stability and equality is what the children of Fiji will inherit.

Bainimarama made this strong statement in parliament while responding to President Jioji Konrote’s opening speech in parliament.

The Prime Minister has also challenged everyone in parliament to recognize that false fear mongering about land laws tears countries apart, limits economic potential and pulls everyone down.

Bainimarama stresses that the FijiFirst government will continue to protect the communal ownership of iTaukei land in this country.

He says zero iTaukei land has been lost through the entirety of his leadership as Prime Minister and he is the only leader and Minister in the current parliament that can claim such a record.

The Prime Minister stresses that his record will remain untarnished in the years to come as they find new ways to not only protect and preserve iTaukei land but continue to help landowners tap into its full economic potential with a full offering of development assistance from planning to grants to construction.

Bainimarama also says that he welcomes the increased number of women parliamentarians but he stresses that more needs to be done to empower women leaders in the country.

Bainimarama says the victory for FijiFirst in the recent general elections is a victory for the country.

The Prime Minister says after the 2018 general elections, Fiji has solidified the historic achievement of our new democracy under the constitution.

Bainimarama also thanked his wife, Mary, for always standing by his side.
