Fiji leads call for a peaceful Pacific on the new vision for unity, security, and resilience

Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka says Fiji is working towards a safer and more resilient future in the face of climate change, crime, and external threats.

While speaking during the Pacific Regional Security Conference at the Forum Secretariat, Rabuka says the stronger national security is to protect the borders, communities, digital systems and the regional cooperation that supports peace and economic growth.

Rabuka says the pride in Fiji’s leadership, is rooted in values, traditions, and the Pacific way by hearing the voice of the people in shaping the future of the region, and especially for women, youth, and vulnerable communities.

Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General, Baron Waqa says the key session of this conference is to open the discussion of the Pacific poly-crisis and a call for regional unity.

Waqa urges the alignment with the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent, a long-term vision for safeguarding the region’s people and environment.

Waqa endorsed the declaration as a practical step toward embedding peace in Pacific institutions, grounded in sovereignty, resilience, and inclusion.
