Fiji lacks psychiatrists to help with needs of children - Tabuya
Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection Lynda Tabuya

The Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Protection is struggling to have psychiatrists in Fiji and they are looking for more psychiatrists to help them protect children and their physiological needs.

This has been highlighted by the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection Lynda Tabuya where she says negotiations are underway to develop a National Action Plan to prevent violence against children as they face multifaceted issues.

She says these issues are increasing every day from suicide cases to drug abuse and violence against children, ringing alarm bells in the nation.

She says the Government is willing to offer child support services to the children and they need the collaborative effort of the other Ministries to attract the experts in this field.

According to Tabuya, there are key settings they will look into before establishing the National Plan.

Tabuya says as always, they will take a holistic approach and look after the welfare of the children and citizens.
