Fiji Corrections medical staff receive training to provide better services

17 medical staff of the Fiji Corrections Service have completed online training on Healthcare in Detention to provide better services in their centres.

The training was jointly organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Thammasat University of Thailand.

The training was supposed to be conducted in Bangkok but that did not eventuate due to COVID-19.

Corrections Commissioner, Francis Kean says the course will enable their medical staff to fulfill their responsibilities based on international practices.

Kean has thanked the staff for their sacrifices in completing this training for the well-being of the inmates and officers.

International Committee of the Red Cross Head of Regional Delegation in the Pacific, Vincent Ochilet says this course will help these health workers better deal with the challenges they face daily.

He also presented the staff with certificates today.
