Fiji 7s men and women’s teams ready to go at Pacific Games 2023

The Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s and Women’s 7s teams are ready to kick off their 2023 Pacific Games campaign this afternoon.

The teams had their captain’s runs and final touch-ups yesterday as they look forward to the task ahead.

Both teams will be motivated to repeat the feat they achieved at the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa winning gold medals in both categories.

The women’s team will have some exciting players to look out for which includes veteran Lavenia Tinai who will be leading the side.

The players to look out for in the men’s side include captain Suliano Volivoli, Rupeni Kabu and Fiji Water Flying Fijians halfback Frank Lomani’s younger brother, Iowane Raturaciri.

The women’s team will play Wallis and Futuna at 6.24pm this evening in their first pool match, they will play the Solomon Islands at 1.30pm tomorrow before taking on the Cook Islands at 6.12pm tomorrow in their final pool match.

The women’s Championship semi finals will begin at 12pm Saturday and the final will be at 8.12pm Saturday.

The Fiji men’s 7s side will take on American Samoa at 8.24 tonight in their first pool match and will play Kiribati at 3.12pm tomorrow in their final pool match.

The men’s Championship quarter finals will kick off at 7.24pm Friday and the Championship semi finals will kick off at 2.24pm Saturday.

The gold medal final will be at 9pm on Saturday.

The teams participating in the Pacific Games 7s tournament 2023 include American Samoa, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Samoa, Cook Islands, Nauru, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tahiti and Wallis and Futuna.
