In an effort to boost crop production, the Minister for Agriculture has handed over horse-driven farming implements to the farmers of Nukulau Village, located in the District of Nasau, in the Province of Rakiraki to assist them in increasing crop production.

While handing over the equipment, Dr Mahendra Reddy says he was aware of the crop production levels, its superior quality of tausala dalo and the difficulties they faced in trying to recover from the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

He adds they will help them with planting materials and other agriculture assistance.

Dr Reddy urged the farmers to utilize the assistance provided wisely and says he looks forward to seeing crop production levels increasing.

Nasau District Representative, Meli Tokalau thanked the Minister for the assistance and says they would ensure to fully utilize the horse-drawn implements for their land preparation activities.

He says the assurance of getting planting materials gives them hope.
