The family members of the two women who lost their lives in a fatal accident yesterday along the Kings road are still in shock.
Family member Neelam Kumar said the 84-year-old mother and her 58-year-old daughter were traveling to Rakiraki with a 49-year-old driver, his wife and two children when the accident occurred which resulted in the 84-year-old and 58-year-old’s death.
Kumar said the driver, his wife and two children survived.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the driver is in police custody at Korovou Police Station.
Naisoro said it is alleged that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to the loose gravel while approaching the stretch of road near Fulton College causing the vehicle to tumble upside down.
