Families of the senior residents should consider their elders - Akbar

We should not actually encourage the building of such institutions like the senior citizens homes because that will allow people to push their seniors into these homes.

These were the words of Minister for Health Rosy Akbar who was speaking at the Samabula Senior Citizen’s Home today.

Some Health Ministry staff had accompanied the Minister to sing carols for the residents and also brought food for the residents which was donated to the Ministry.

Akbar says the families of the senior residents should consider their elders.

Meanwhile, some senior officials of the Land Transport Authority had visited the home earlier today with gifts.

While receiving groceries and other items given, the Home’s Senior Welfare Officer, Neelam Kumar says these items address the needs of the residents.

Kumar says the home strives to provide the best care for the residents of the home and the gifts will get them closer to achieving their goals.

The Samabula Senior Citizens Home currently has 58 residents.
