FRIEND Fiji has come forward to assist the Ministry of Health in these difficult times by donating medication for Non Communicable Diseases for the Lautoka containment area.

FRIEND Fiji is also organizing for drop off for people who are unable to pick their medication due to transport challenges.

CEO Sashi Kiran says every attempt is made to take the pressure off the Ministry as well as to ensure that patients that cannot afford medication do not have to go without medication.

FRIEND Fiji is also running the Telehealth platform in Lautoka and has engaged General practitioners to attend to calls from patients suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension and Heart disease.

This initiative has been developed in consultation with the Ministry of Health, WHO experts and set-up by FRIEND in partnership with Digicel that is providing the Telehealth platform and is funded by the British High Commission.

After consultation with the doctors on toll free line 165, patients are able to collect their full set of medication from the Girmit Centre where the pharmacy is temporarily located.

They have also provided laptop loaded with Telehealth software and internet services for the pharmacy to complete the loop from patient consultation to medication pick up.
