As thousands of motorists in the Suva‑Nausori corridor continue to face major traffic issues daily because of the four lane road project, the Fiji Roads Authority through contractors Higgins Fiji and Dayals Quarries have now decided to start 24 hour operations.

The final coat sealing works have commenced on the two lanes between Rewa Bridge and 9 miles on Kings Road.

Fiji Roads Authority Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says they will be carrying out road construction on the other two lanes from this Saturday.

He says works will be carried out 24 hours and during this time, they will be diverting both traffic on the newly sealed lanes.

Moore says road users will have to drive with extreme caution and be mindful of construction machinery and equipment that will be used for these road works.

The FRA says if weather is favourable, work on the 3.8 kilometres major upgrade project is anticipated to be completed by June this year.
