Fiji Roads Authority Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says over the next few months the FRA and Energy Fiji Limited contractors will be laying underground power cables along the four lane road between Nakasi to Nausori.
Moore says the work is expected to take up to 6 months to complete and during this time, one lane maybe closed but not on a daily basis.
He says although the work on laying the power cables is yet to begin, FRA opened the road as the road is ready and the work of laying the cables does not affect the operation on the road.
Moore says the Nakasi to Nausori four lane road was over a $50 million project, FRA is advising motorists to maintain their speed limit on the road and make good use of the road.
Moore says with proper routine maintenance, the road is expected to last for the next 25 years.
Moore says the road will be officially opened in the next few months.
