Portugal defeated Slovenia 3-0 in penalty shootouts this morning to book a quarter final showdown against France in the Euro Championship 2024.

The two teams were locked 0-all at the end of extra time.

Portugal’s star striker Cristiano Ronaldo had a chance to claim a win for his side in the last play of extra time but his shot was saved by Slovenia’s goalkeeper Jan Oblak which left Ronaldo in tears and was consoled by his teammates.

Ronaldo managed to bounce back and score the first goal in the penalty shootout.

Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes scored the other two goals.

Portugal will play France at 7am Saturday.

In other quarter finals, Spain takes on host Germany at 4am Saturday, England faces Switzerland at 4am Sunday while the last quarter final is yet to be confirmed.
