England and Co-host Australia are both hoping to make history by reaching the FIFA Women's World Cup final for the first time when they meet in Sydney at 10pm tonight.

The Matildas had never advanced beyond the quarter-finals before this tournament, while European champions England are playing in their third successive Women’s World Cup semi-final.

If Australia wins tonight, they would be the first hosts to reach the Women’s World Cup final after USA's victory on home soil in 1999.

Meanwhile, Spain beat Sweden 2-1 in the first semi final last night.
