Electricity to be restored to people living in Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki later this morning

Thousands of people living in Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki have been without electricity since yesterday morning as a bushfire destroyed four power poles that provide electricity through the 33,000 volts transmission powerline from Rarawai in Ba to Tavua and Rakiraki.

Energy Fiji Limited CEO Hasmukh Patel says people living in the corridor from Tavua to Vatukoula, Nadarivatu to Navesau which is past Rakiraki are affected.

He says EFL teams are currently carrying out the necessary repair works and are expected to complete the repairs by 10 am today.

Affected areas include;
