Drivers will lose their livelihood and license if they test positive for drugs - Tuisawau

People will lose their livelihood and their licenses if they test positive for drugs when applying for Public Service Vehicle license or applying for their driving tests or driving schools.

This has been highlighted by the Minister of Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau while responding to questions by the media.

Ro Filipe says mandatory drug tests or random tests need to be conducted for Public Service Vehicle drivers to ensure the safety of pedestrians and road users at all times.

He stresses that the tests will be done in liaison with enforcement agencies like the Police, and it will be a positive step forward, given the increasing prevalence of drug use and the impact of safety on the roads.

He reiterates that if they implement the drug policies, it will yield positive results.

When questioned when this will be implemented, Ro Filipe says this is still under discussion.
