Don’t breach PER: Leweni

The government has reiterated that individuals found breaching the Public Emergency Regulation will be detained and possibly charged.

Permanent Secretary for Information Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni said while the regulation has been extended for another month, people who are trying to upset, cause instability or tension amongst the communities will not be tolerated and will need to seriously think twice about their priorities since government is only focused on moving the nation forward.

Lt. Colonel Leweni said they urge the public and especially community leaders who may be contemplating inciteful actions to stop, as this would only impact on their efforts.

Meanwhile, Director Police Operations Waisea Tabakau confirmed that former Methodist Church President Reverend Manasa Lasaro remains in police custody.

Reverend Lasaro who is the current Director of Social Services for the Church was taken into custody in Suva yesterday morning for allegedly breaching the Public Emergency Regulation.
