Ministry of Local Government Premila Kumar.

Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar has assured market vendors that vendor license fees will never be introduced.

Kumar says vendors are already going through a lot of challenges and the last thing they need is the re-introduction of license fees.

The Ministry of Local Government is urging people to disregard the draft market regulations which was reported in today's newspaper.

Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar says it is unfortunate that a consultant's document which was intended for internal discussion has been released to the media.

Kumar says they do not undertake decisions based on a consultant's draft report which will go under rigorous consultations.

She says such documents need to go through internal vetting which has not been done yet.

The Minister says they will also need the input of a number of stakeholders which includes market vendors.
