Discussions are underway between the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection and UNICEF on the implementation of the Child Protection and Child Justice Act in an effort to safeguard children across the country.

Minister Sashi Kiran met with senior officials from UNICEF and discussed key initiatives undertaken by the Ministry in collaboration with UNICEF, focusing on strengthening child protection systems nationwide.

The Ministry says the meeting also served as an opportunity for UNICEF representatives to update the new Minister on their ongoing work and partnerships.

They say discussions focused as well on online safety for Children as well as the urgent need to create awareness and education on child protection mechanisms.

Kiran was also briefed on her role as the Co-Chair for the Pacific Early Childhood Development along with preparatory works for the upcoming Pacific Child Wellbeing Summit.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and also explored ways to enhance their joint efforts.
