It's a disappointing end to the tournament for the Digicel Fiji Sevens team as Wales pulled off a stunning 27-5 victory in the plate semifinal.

Losing both matches on Day Two after being undefeated on Day One Fiji's only points came through a try to Joji Ragamate as the Red Dragons ran riot with five unanswered tries.

Indiscipline proved very costly for Fiji with replacement forward Peni Maka coping a yellow card.

More bad news for Fiji as the hardworking forward Levani Botia may be unavailable for the next tournament as he was carried off the field after sustaining an injury in the second half.

Wales continued their fine performance to win the plate final beating Canada 21-14, England defeated Spain 26-7 to win the Shield final while Argentina upset host South Africa 14-10 to win the Bowl final.

Meanwhile, Samoa produced a master class performance to win the Dubai 7's tournament after beating New Zealand 26-15

Looking at the IRB world sevens series standings New Zealand is now leading with 38 points, Fiji, Kenya and Samoa is second with 32, while France is 5th with 27.
