Digicel Gets License

The wait is finally over.

Digicel Fiji Limited has been given the license to provide mobile phone services in the country.

At a press conference this afternoon, Interim Minister Tom Ricketts announced a total four companies handed in tenders to provide mobile services, however, according to Rickets, Digicel met all the requirements and hence was given the license.

Meanwhile, in a statement this afternoon, Vodafone Fiji congratulated Digicel and said it is a significant milestone in the development of the Fiji telecommunications sector.

Vodafone said it expects the competitive market will provide a range of exciting opportunities for both the consumer and suppliers of telecommunication services.
