Digicel Fiji has today announced a major $70 million investment in the country that would result in upgraded services for the people.

Digicel Chief Executive Officer, Darren McLean has announced that major upgrade works are underway to expand 3G Plus network services around Fiji.

McLean said a large part of the investment also includes the upgrading of the Digicel Fiji network to provide 4G services.

He said for the people of Fiji, it will be good news all around as the $70 million investment includes cheaper smart-phones, better network coverage and high speed internet connectivity.

McLean said Digicel has already invested over $200 million since it came into the Fijian market in 2008.

The Digicel Fiji CEO said their active phone subscribers continue to grow and the company would not have gone into this multimillion dollar upgrade and expansion if the number of customers was not increasing

Meanwhile more jobs are expected to be created as the upgrade continues.

The actual number of jobs created is yet to be confirmed.
