Derenalagi joins Flying Fijians to replace injured Yato

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua captain Ratu Meli Derenalagi has been called into the Fiji Water Flying Fijians squad to replace injured backrower Peceli Yato for the upcoming Georgia and All Blacks tests this month.

This has been confirmed by coach Mick Byrne who says Derenalagi played well against the Barbarians two weeks ago and he really did show that he is eager to be in the tests squad.

Byrne says he had one of his best-ever games this year against the Barbarians and he is a great replacement for Yato.

Derenalagi was dropped from the final 33-member squad that was named by Byrne last month for these two tests but had to step in with some other Fijian Drua players who were not named, to play against Barbarians as most of the Northern Hemisphere-based players were not released for that match except for Vilimoni Botitu.

The Flying Fijians will play Georgia at 4am Saturday in Georgia.

They will then play the All Blacks on the 20th of this month at 2.30pm in San Diego.
