Death of Ashna Devi now classified as murder

The death of 14-year-old Ashna Devi of Viria, Naitasiri, has now been classified as murder as the post mortem result has revealed that the girl received severe cuts on her neck.

Devi, who was a Form Three student, was found dead by Police officers in a vacant house in Viria last Friday.

Police also discovered a 35-old-man in the house with severe injuries.

Director CID Kishore Kumar said they are waiting for the 35-year-old man to recover.

Kumar said they have not ruled out the possibility that a third person may have been involved in this incident.

Ashna Devi was reported missing from her home last Thursday and checks made at all likely places proved futile.

The 35-year-old man of Wainiika settlement was reported missing from home last Wednesday.

Police received information on Friday that the two were seen occupying a vacant house.
