Daugunu suffers fractured fibula as Wallabies faced with injuries setback

The Wallabies have suffered a major setback ahead of their Rugby Championship round 2 clash against the Springboks next week after a few of their key players including Fijian-born winger Filipo Daugunu suffered serious injuries in the side’s 33-7 loss to the Springboks yesterday.

Daugunu started on the left wing and had to be subbed off in the 25th minute after suffering a fractured fibula while lock Nick Frost and substitute lock Jeremy Williams both suffered concussions.

The Wallabies have confirmed that the three players will work through the graduated return to play program.

Another major blow to the side will be the unavailability of star prop Taniela Tupou who will travel to Tonga to attend his father’s funeral.

The Wallabies will host the Springboks again next Saturday at 9.45pm in Perth.
