The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side fell to their 3rddefeat of the HSBC Dubai 7s following a close 14-15 loss to China in their final pool match this morning.

The loss has seen them fall out of contention for a quarter final appearance.

China started the match well with an unconverted try in the 2nd minute through Dou Xinrong before Fiji replied with a converted try in the 5th minute through Adimereani Rogosau to take a 7-5 lead.

Poor decision-making by Fiji when they should have kicked the ball out for halftime led to China turning the ball over and scoring another unconverted try through Dou Xinrong again after the halftime siren to regain a 10-7 lead at the break.

It was a tight contest in the second half as China scored their winning try in the 9thminute of the match through Gao Xiaoyang.

Fiji tried to pull a late comeback but China’s defence was too strong as Fiji only managed to score a consolation converted try through Silika Galo after the fulltime siren sounded to close the gap.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s side will take on NZ at 3.16am today in their final pool match.
