DPP’s Office discontinues case against man charged with rape & abduction

A man who was facing rape and abduction charges is a free man today after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions filed to discontinue the case against him in the Suva High Court.

The man was facing one count each of rape, sexual assault, abduction and wrongful confinement.

The trial was expected to start on Monday.

The man had allegedly committed the offence against a 12-year-old girl from the same settlement in Navua.

The alleged incidents happened in July 2018 in Navua.
