Corrections Service clarifies Qiliho’s release
Former Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho

Former Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho was discharged yesterday and not earlier as printed by some mainstream media as well as on social media.

The Fiji Corrections Service highlighted this saying misinformation by the media gives the impression that Qiliho was the first prisoner to be released after serving his term.

They say on the contrary, there are other prisoners serving their time and they will be released once their discharge date is due.

The Corrections Service says the public is advised to respect the rights of the prisoners and avoid spreading wrong information to vindicate someone who has served his term of imprisonment.
