Our main priority was to go back to where we started and connect with the people that support us and it was part of our first phase of preparation.

Those were the words of Fiji Water Flying Fijians head coach Simon Raiwalui after the team’s 35-12 win over Japan last Saturday that helped them scoop their 6th Pacific Nations Cup title.

He says this is one of the main reasons they play for this jersey and says the base of any team is to build team spirit and values which was important for them.

Raiwalui says the team is now done with phase one which is building the team spirit and the team’s physical preparations as they turn their focus now onto the two test matches against France and England later this month before the Rugby World Cup kicks off next month.

He says phase one was on track and now they are going to start focusing on the next phase.

The Flying Fijians will return to Fiji today and will have a one-week preparation at home before heading to Nantes for their test match against France next Sunday.
