Composer of VT1S album says music helped him after struggling with drugs & PTSD

The composer behind hit songs Yalayala and Taqaniika in the VT1S debut album says it took him two years to focus on his talent after struggling with post traumatic stress disorder, suicide and drugs.

Stee ‘Cracker’ Vereakula is well known in the local music scene.

He released ‘Ono Vitu Ciwa’ with Masi in 2013 and is also part of the popular local group Youngblood who was well known for their songs Noqu Lewa, Farmer and Saioni.

Vereakula says the challenges he has faced has taken him to dark places and the only place he feels comfortable in is music.

Vereakula is from the Garden Island of Taveuni.

He composed the 8 songs in the VT1S album.

Eight artists will be performing in the VT1S concert this Saturday at the FMF National Gymnasium.

The $30-floor tickets are sold out while there are still a limited number of $15 pavilion tickets left.

There will be free entry for children under 10 years of age.

The concert will be held from 6pm to 9pm.
