A major announcement today as the price control order for telecommunication rates has been lifted.
This means that competition will dictate the prices.
Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made the announcement a few minutes ago.
Meanwhile, Vodafone Fiji managing director Aslam Khan said they welcome the decision as the mobile call rates and charges are already dictated by competition resulting in much better deals than that set by the Commerce Commission.
Khan has also confirmed that Vodafone has withdrawn the legal action filed against the Commission and the interim government in relation to the price control order.
