Commission to meet Methodist Church, Police and Social Welfare Dept regarding alleged abuse of children

The Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission, Methodist Church in Fiji, Social Welfare Department and Police will meet this afternoon to discuss the case where children living in Dilkusha Home have been allegedly subjected to verbal and physical abuse and neglect.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says investigations are ongoing.

The complainant had also requested the Human Rights Commission to investigate the manner in which the present management is running the orphanage, in particular, the use of food rations and other assistance given to the Home by the public and the state.

Methodist Church’s Assistant Secretary for Christian Citizenship and Social Services, Noa Tokavou had said earlier they will wait for the outcome of the investigation before they decide their next step.
