The Commerce Commission has requested police protection for its staff after a Staff investigating hardware companies was allegedly threatened and assaulted.
Commission Chairman Dr. Mahendra Reddy alleges that the attack on his staff is linked to their investigation into hardware companies and they have now asked for Police protection.
Dr. Reddy said they are also concerned that hardware outlets are not allowing their staff to gather information and they had to resort to getting court orders.
Assistant Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed that Police are now investigating the alleged assault on the Commerce Commission staff.
He said police will assist the Commission in their work to ensure the safety of the staff members.
