The chairman for the Commerce Commission will accompany officials from the Fiji Electricity Authority and the Consumer Council of Fiji to see the water level at the Monasavu Dam as part of their investigations.
FEA has put a proposal forward to the Commerce Commission to reactivate the fuel surcharge of 6.51 cents per unit that was scrapped in March last year.
Dr Mahendra Reddy said they have received the submission and the tour this morning is part of their investigation.
FEA chief executive Hasmukh Patel said they have stated that water levels at the Monasavu Dam are very low, stressing that it is very close to the critical level of 715 metres.
He added FEA had been running at a loss of about $4 million for the past four months.
