Coles to retire at the end of the year

All Blacks and Hurricanes’ veteran hooker, Dane Coles will be retiring from professional rugby at the end of the 2023 rugby season.

The New Zealand Rugby Union announced earlier that Coles is looking to leave everything on the field this season before retiring.

It is also understood that Coles will end his 17-year professional career in New Zealand and will not follow other All Blacks who have signed deals overseas.

Hurricanes coach Jason Holland says that Coles’ decision to retire in New Zealand is a reflection of why he plays the game.

Holland says while everybody wants to make money, it is not a massive priority for Coles.

He adds playing for the Hurricanes, enjoying his rugby and playing for the All Blacks is something that Coles loves.

The first round of the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific campaign is set to get underway on the 24th of this month.
