The 2009 Coca-Cola Games officially starts this hour with the arrival of the Games torch from the Coca Cola Head Office, accompanied by 30 athletes from ACS and Suva Grammar, the defending Coca Cola champions in the Girls and Boys Division.
ACS Assistant Coach John Lum Kon said after weeks of operations, it is now up to the individual to take up the challenge.
After watching the Grammarians at training, former athlete and Fiji Coach Albert Miller said other schools in Fiji are out to end Grammar's dominance in the Coke Games.
First timer to the Coca Cola Games Ashwin Deo of Naleba College in Labasa is aiming to bring glory to his school by claiming Gold in the 1,500m event.
He said that coming from the North and running on the tracks is a dream come true.
Deo is amongst seven athletes from Naleba Secondary who fundraised for two weeks just to make sure they made it to the Games.
The first field event is the Intermediate Boy's javelin at 9.40 with the first track event, the Open Girls 1,500m at 9.45 this morning.
