With hours remaining for people to celebrate Christmas with family and friends, a Christmas rush into the main cities and towns across the country is currently being experienced.
Hundreds of tourists are also part of the many shoppers that are spilling on to the busy streets of the capital city as the cruise ship Sea Princess is currently docked at the Kings Wharf.
Fijivillage spoke to some tourists with most saying they are happy to be experiencing Christmas eve in Fiji.
Businesses are also enjoying good sales with many people flocking to towns and cities to do their last minute shopping.
A taxi driver in Suva Jiten Kumar is ripping the benefits as he said he is earning about $200 to $250 each day.
He said compared to other days this week is the busiest.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Police will be beefing up its presence.
Chief Operations Officer Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusiate Tudravu said officers from divisional headquarters who are often engaged in office work will be pushed forward to the frontline from tonight.
Operations will run concurrently in all divisions for 12 hour shifts to ensure continuity of services on the ground.
Senior officers will also be deployed to station levels to oversee operations this Christmas eve.
Visibility on the ground will be the main focus particularly as some major shopping outlets will be opened for extended hours.
On the same note ACP Tudravu is requesting members of the public to take ownership of their safety and that of their properties.
