Christians remember Jesus’s sacrifice

Christians remember Jesus’s sacrifice
Christians worldwide and around the country this afternoon at three o'clock attended special services remembering the death of Christ Jesus.

In between today and late tomorrow night, Christians remember the sacrifice that Jesus did for them with today also being a time of fasting.

Services and mass will be done late tomorrow night and early Sunday morning to celebrate Jesus rising from the dead.

Catholic youths around the country have already reached the Ashram in Nadi after starting their yearly Suva to Nadi walk last Sunday, Palm Sunday.

The youths also re-enacted the lead up to Jesus death on the Cross.

It is the day before Easter and the last day of Holy Week, in which Christians prepare for Easter.

This day commemorates the day that Jesus Christ's body lay in the tomb.

Meanwhile, the country’s biggest Christian denomination, the Methodist Church of Fiji hopes that this Easter weekend will again show the world the importance of love and unity within our community.

Acting General Secretary Reverend Tevita Nawadra said that Good Friday marks the time when Jesus Christ was persecuted and underwent a lot of hardship before being crucified but yet still forgave those that hated him.

Reverend Nawadra said the messages which is given most clear is his love for all and in these times it provides a sense of peace and hope to all.

Catholic Church Vicar General Father Beni Kaloudau said the next three days are deemed the most important in the Christian calendar after Christmas.

Kaloudau said this is also when the Lent period of self reflection and fasting ends for many, and a chance for people to change themselves and their ways for the better.
