The Head of the Technical and Support Secretariat for the National Council for Building a Better Fiji said Mahendra Chudhry's involvement in the Council was only valid during the period when he was the Interim Minister for Finance.
John Samy told Fijivillage News, that his absence from the council meeting yesterday should not be taken out of context as he no longer is a member of the NCBBF.
Samy said the only member from the Fiji Labour Party at the meeting was the President Jokapeci Koroi.
When asked if Jokapeci Koroi's presence in the Council will be a conflict of interest, as Chaudhry had made some comments against the Charter as the Labour Party Leader, Samy said it's an issue for Koroi to address and not him.
When contacted this morning Koroi refused to comment on the matter.
Yesterday Chaudhry had raised serious concern over the way the NNCBBF teams are distributing the draft Charter booklets and response forms as well as saying that the decision to extend the timeframe for consultations on the draft Peoples Charter to mid December is unnecessary.
