Calls made for specialised subject teachers in Primary schools
Vunimono High School Principal Bijen Singh

A call has been made for specialised subject teachers to be allocated for Primary schools instead of just having specialised subject teachers in secondary schools.

While speaking during the consultation on the Education Act 1966, Vunimono High School Principal Bijen Singh requested if it can also be captured in the Education Act, that there should also be specialized teachers in the primary school, because he feels that there is a big problem of literacy and numeracy in our country.

Singh says he thinks Fiji needs to have specialized language and Maths teachers in primary schools.

Singh further says that he thinks that is one area that the Education Act should capture.

He says when our foundation is good, then he thinks the secondary schools will do much better.
