A nurse administers the first jab of AstraZeneca vaccine in Suva last week.

The COVID-19 vaccination drive will start at the Khemendra Central School in Savusavu today.

The Ministry of Health says they are targeting frontliners, including private and public health care workers, defence force, sea and airports, and civil servants joining the COVID-19 contact tracing team, individuals involved in the Blue Lane Initiative, taxi, minivan and bus drivers, bankers, workers from petrol stations, individuals above 60 years of age, individuals with co-morbid issues such as diabetes, hypertension, heart conditions, asthma, HIV, cancer, renal dialysis patients and any other medical condition.

The Ministry is requesting people at the vaccination site to be highly vigilant and practice all COVID-19 safe measures with great precaution.

You must wear a proper mask and not remove it to talk to anyone, maintain a safe physical distance of 2 metres, carry an effective hand sanitiser and frequently sanitise your hands and download and activate the careFIJI app on your mobile.

You should not handshake, mingle or get close with anyone who is not from the same household as you and you should also bring your own water bottle and essentials so that you do not have to share them with anyone.

The vaccination drive will last until the doses are finished.
