COP 23 Presidents urges participants to use the Talanoa Spirit as a solution to talk on climate change
COP23 President Frank Bainimarama

Prime Minister and COP 23 President Voreqe Bainimarama has urged the participants of the COP presidency dialogue, to have Talanoa Spirit which is not just about being nice to everyone, but is about contributing to a solution that requires a degree of straight talking.

With the Talanoa Spirit as an underlying theme of this dialogue, Bainimarama says that it was critical that they enhance the engagement between the various elements of the Grand Coalition.

He called on participants to always be inclusive and to learn how to engage all levels of government, civil society, the private sector and billions of ordinary citizens in the formation of the national plans for climate action.

Bainimarama says this is the first open dialogue between parties and non-parties in the history of COP process and is not a side event and is being mandated by the parties.
