CCF Concerned-Yabaki
The Citizens Constitutional Forum is concerned that some Fijians are trying to silence them as they give out information on the outcomes of the 72nd Session of the Committee on the Elimination of the Racial Discrimination held in Geneva.

Director Akuila Yabaki said a Fijian man telephoned the CCF Office and warned them not to speak on NLTB or the GCC, saying this is not the right time to discuss the issue.

Yabaki adds they tried to explain to the caller that what the CCF is coming out with is what the UN CERD Body had told them, to which the caller replied he did not care about what the UN said.

The CCF say Fiji is a signatory to the Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination with Fiji's periodic reports discussed in Geneva on the 19th and 20th of February, 2008.

The Forum said the UN CERD Body made its own observations and recommendations to the Fiji delegation present in Geneva and CCF held their press conference to convey these concerns raised by CERD.
