40 businesses will be approached by the Fiji Electricity Authority in the next three weeks to generate their own electricity, as a result of the current water shortage at the Monasavu Dam.
FEA CEO Hasmukh Patel said with not enough water at the dam they have no option but to do this as current losses amount to $13 million a month.
Patel added that the business houses are being asked to share the load, as the Authority will only be able to cater for residential areas however at the moment they are not revealing the names of the companies they will be approaching.
