There is clarification for parents and students today on the school zoning system which will come into force for Class 1 and Form 3 students from next year.
It has now been confirmed that the Ministry of Education respects the position of parents to reserve the right to choose the schools for their children.
However, Education Minister Filipe Bole has clearly stated to Fijivillage that parents who wish to send their children to school which is outside their 2 kilometre radius zone from their home, will have to pay for any expenses incurred such as transport and text books.
Bole stressed that the move to zone all government grant aided schools next year remains unchanged.
He said the 2 kilometre zoning will give the choice to the parent to send their child to school which is located closer to their home, and will make education affordable for the parents.
Stay with us we will have more on the School Zoning System at 1pm.
