Board of publicly listed company to meet regarding allegation of sexual harassment by company’s CEO

The board of a publicly listed company will meet this afternoon to discuss the committee’s investigation report on the allegation of sexual harassment by the company’s CEO.

The company’s board had decided to appoint an independent committee to look into the allegation levelled against the CEO by a former female employee.

Fijivillage is now awaiting confirmation from the South Pacific Stock Exchange on what is the requirement for the publicly listed company when it comes to these types of cases and when the shareholders need to be informed through a public announcement.

We are awaiting a response from the stock exchange. They are expected to respond either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile Police are conducting a separate investigation in relation to a complaint of alleged repeated sexual harassment of the 22-year-old woman by the CEO of the company earlier this year.

Some staff members have also given their statements.

Police will then liaise with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for further guidance in the case.

Police have also confirmed that the 22-year-old woman who had earlier alleged that she was sexually harassed by the senior business executive, has come forward with more information.

The CID has also confirmed that the woman has not withdrawn the complaint.
