The Black Ferns sevens have been crowned World Series champions for the seventh time after winning their opening matches at the Toulouse Sevens.

They only needed to make the quarterfinals to win the series in the final leg of the women’s season in France and qualified for the last eight after beating Poland 50-0 and the United States 31-12 on day one.

The Olympic champion Kiwis were last series winners when the season was cancelled in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic and have regained the title from arch-rivals from Australia.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s team will play Great Britain in their final pool match at 7.37 tonight.

The cup quarterfinals begin at 1.26am tomorrow, followed by the cup semi finals at 7.44pm tomorrow, while the cup final kicks off at 3:36am on Monday.
